BOTOX® and Dermal Fillers

Our goal at Scheich Family Dentistry is to help our patients achieve a healthy, beautiful smile that lasts a lifetime. While excellent oral health is crucial to your general health and well-being, feeling confident in your appearance is equally important.

Beautiful smiles are why we offer cosmetic dentistry, but we also offer BOTOX® and dermal fillers to provide a youthful frame for your healthy smile. During her training as a dentist, Dr. Stephanie Scheich studied facial anatomy and extensively and routinely provides anesthetic injections in her daily practice. making her uniquely experienced and qualified to administer BOTOX®.

We use two categories of products for aesthetic enhancements: botulinum toxin (BOTOX® and Xeomin®) and dermal fillers (Juvéderm® and Belotero Balance®).

The first is botulinum toxin, where we use brand-name products like Botox®, which can stop the muscle movements that create lines and wrinkles in the skin. 

As a general rule, if a line appears when you move muscles in your forehead, between your eyebrows ('angry 11'), at the corners of your eyes ('crows’ feet'), or around your mouth (“bunny lines”), we can improve their appearance with a botulinum toxin product. 

Many guidelines suggest using these products as early as your mid-30s, but most age groups can benefit from using BOTOX®.

The goal of these products is to see no lines when your facial muscles are at rest. You will start to notice the effects of BOTOX® within 3-5 days of treatment, with full effects being visible after about ten days. The effects of BOTOX® typically last around 3-4 months, and using these products consistently also helps prevent lines from getting deeper and becoming permanent. 

You don’t have to worry that your face will "frozen" or expressionless; Dr. Stephanie’s knowledge of facial anatomy and expertise allows her to administer injections with exceptional accuracy and precision. Surrounding facial muscles that have not been treated will continue to contract normally and won’t affect your facial expressions. 

Xeomin® is also extremely successful in treating facial pain, including jaw pain, tightness, and headaches that result from clenching or grinding the teeth. By targeting the placement of Xeomin® into the muscles of the jaw and temples, we can stop the overuse of those muscles that cause jaw pain and headaches. 

Because botulinum toxin lessens the ability of the jaw muscles to fire, it also reduces stress on your teeth and damage like chipped or broken teeth caused by clenching and grinding.

The second category of product that we can use to gain aesthetic improvement is dermal fillers. At Scheich Family Dentistry, we offer Juvéderm® and Belotero Balance® to:

• Replace lost facial volume for a more youthful appearance
• Add volume to upper and lower lips and fill in lip lines
• Fill in nasolabial folds called 'bunny lines' or 'parentheses' that run from the nose to the chin

Dr. Stephanie always strives for a subtle addition of volume to avoid a plastic or overfilled appearance. Depending on the volume we need to replace, we will select a lighter or heavier volume filler to maintain that natural appearance.
